Jubefest brings our community together to celebrate live performing arts at the Jubilee Auditorium featuring some of Alberta’s world-class musicians and poets.

With acts including Peter and the Wolves, Kinjo & Young, JUNO winner Caity Gyorgy, The Polyjesters and more - with the spoken word Poetic Prologues curated by Calgary’s Poet Laureate Wakefield Brewster, this August on ‘Jube Island’ is going to be Jube-tastic! So, bring your own lawn chair, purchase some tasty snacks and local beverages and enjoy the best of Alberta on our outdoor stage!

About The Polyjesters:
The Polyjesters were created by brothers Jason and Sheldon Valleau on a park bench in Holland and developed on the streets of France. Planning to busk just for the summer, they ended up getting caught in a swing vortex amongst many other talented players. It was there that they began stealing from the best of the best to become part of the Poly family. 3 years had passed where they went from street performances to playing private parties in Monaco including for the Prince himself. Eventually home was calling as hard as immigration was pushing and the boys returned home. They immediately took to stealing the best band mates close to home, releasing four albums, three of them original with ever changing styles and toured these albums back and forth across North America, England and Japan, doing several stints at Epcot Centre. They became a little road weary and decided to bring the party to them, creating The Mountain View Music Fest which lasted a grand 10 years. The boys found themselves on other paths of music and comedy for the past couple of years but are now blowing on the embers, about to fire up and leave no genre ungrooved. The best has been dusted off, new songs are in the mill and The Polyjesters are about to push the red button.

About Wakefield Brewster, Calgary Poet Laureate 2022-2024:
In January 1999, Wakefield Brewster stepped onto his first stage as a Poet and Spoken Word Artist. Today, he is known as one of Canada’s most powerful Professional Performance Poets.

A Black Man raised in Toronto by parents from Barbados, he has resided in Calgary since 2006, and it is in the New West where Wakefield has been able to truly flourish as a Poet and as a Person.

After all that the stage has given Wakefield, he has discovered other ways that he may repay his beloved Poetry and Arts Communities, by performing silently, backstage for them, providing productions.

He accomplishes this mission as a Connector, Creator, Curator, and Collaborator.

Wakefield finds that underneath the many hats and the many hoodies he wears, resides a most wonderful life.
